Immortal Episode
Sanatoria and Holiday Camps Restored in Wartime
One day in February Juche 40 (1951) when the Fatherland Liberation War was at its height, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung called a vice-minister of labour to his office. He told him that the destroyed sanatoria and holiday camps should be restored and re-opened.
He said: Even though it is wartime, sanatoria and holiday camps should not be closed; it is one of the major people-oriented policies of the government of the Republic to protect and promote the health of the working people; now our workers are working overtime with devotion to wartime production; this requires us to pay greater attention to their health.
He continued to say that the Ministry of Labour should investigate the actual conditions of the sanatoria and holiday camps across the country and take measures for running them, and suggested the ways in detail.
Thus, all the sanatoria and holiday camps of the country were restored and re-opened in the trying days of war when the fate of the country was at stake.
