The March 2021 Session of the IOPC Funds’ Governing Bodies

The March 2021 sessions of the IOPC Funds’ governing bodies were held remotely from 29 March 2021 to 31 March 2021. These sessions included the 24^th extraordinary session of 1992 Fund Assembly, 27^th session of 1992 Fund Executive Committee and 8^th extraordinary session of the Supplementary Fund Assembly. Present were over 200 representatives from more than seventy States and sixteen intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. Those from four States including the DPR Korea attended the sessions as observers.

The sessions elected the Director of the 1992 Fund.

They considered the relevant claims for the oil pollution damage accidents involving some oil takers including AgiaZoni II, Bow Jubail, MT Harcourt, MT Emerald, etc.

It was noted that the contracting Parties to FUND PROT 1992 total 118 as of March 2021. Further noted that the contracting Parties to 2010 HNS Convention total only five, the technical cooperation of IMO and Fund was emphasized to encourage more States to accede to the Convention.

The sessions witnessed the consideration on the financial and administrative issues as well.
