Regulations for Enforcement of the Law on Ship Registration adopted

The Regulations for Enforcement of the Law on Ship Registration were recently adopted by the Cabinet Decision No.66 to supersede the Cabinet Decision No.36 on the Adoption of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Law on Ship Registration which was adopted in Juche 107 (2018). The Cabinet of the DPRK updated these Regulations to reinforce the legal system and mechanism for registration and operation of ships as required by the times.

The Regulations, made up of five chapters including thirty articles, provide updated requirements concerning conditions and application for ship registration and consideration of such application as well as establishment of a strict and sound system of registration and certification of ships. Further they stipulate updated penalties on any violation of these Regulations which may cause serious consequences in ship registration.

Providing updated, detailed and clarified requirements for ship registration, the Regulations offer the legal guarantee to ensure that the national ship registration system enjoys well-disciplined administrative resources and processes and that maritime trade and fishing on the DPRK waters keeps on the steady track.
