Pyongyang International Maritime Information Centre


Pyongyang International Maritime Information Centre (PIMIC) is responsible for drafting, updating all types of maritime rules, studying, translating and publishing international conventions and rules, conducting scientific researches on matters arising in shipbuilding and ship operation and maritime information services.

For the past several years PIMIC has been drafting a variety of rules related to ship building, construction, repair and navigation in active interaction with the scientific research and eductional institutions of the country's shipbuilding, shipping and fishing industry as well as those scientists, technicians, researchers, engineers and desginers and inspectors engaged in the said area thus making contribution to the timely development of maritime technical rules.

PIMIC, taking into account specific realities of the country and requirements of the international maritime instruments, has developed and regularly updates technical maritime rules including Rules on Ship Tonnage, Rules on Load Line of Ships, Rules on Equiment of Sea-going Ships, and Rules for the Structure and Equipment of Ships for the Prevention of Pollution.

PIMIC is also putting emphasis on conducting a detailed research on the world trend in the development of maritime technical rules, setting scientific and technical issues arising in reality as a target of research and introducing them as required by the reality of the country.
